What is the HTML language?

The HTML markup language

HTML is the acronym for HyperText Markup Language. This is a fundamental element of the web, the standard markup language for creating web pages and applications.

The HTML language uses tags to structure text, images and other content elements. It consists of a series of elements that tell a web browser how to view a document. These elements are arranged in a hierarchy. The most important element is the root element, which contains all the other components.

The root element is typically on an html basis. Other elements include the header, title, body text and paragraphs (p). These items all contain information about the content, such as its title.

The title element of course defines the title of the document. The body element contains the main content of the page. Finally, element p defines a paragraph of text.

Elements may also have various attributes that specify additional information. For example, the p element may have an alignment attribute, determining how the paragraph should be aligned to the page.

To use the HTML language, you need a text editor. In short, you need a program capable of creating and modifying text files.
