What is VPS hosting?

What is a VPS or VPN?

Simply put, a server is a powerful computer that stores all the data and files that make up your website. When someone types your domain name in their web browser, the server kind of “serves” your website on the user’s screen.

Now, in terms of the virtual aspect, you should know that a VPS uses virtualization technology to divide the same physical server into several entities. These are therefore called virtual servers. To summarize: a single physical device works as if it were several separate servers.

Finally, private means exactly what it seems to imply. Your virtual server is reserved for its users. So you won’t have to share resources like RAM or CPUs or any other data with other users.

How does a VPS work?

VPS hosting simulates the experience of a dedicated server even if you still share the physical server with other users.

Your web host installs a virtual barrier on the server’s operating system (OS) using virtualization technology. It separates the server into individual compartments with virtual walls. This division allows each user to install their own operating system and use their own configuration.

Since a VPS separates your data from other users at the operating system level, it is really a private server. This means that your website is in a secure container with guaranteed server resources (memory, disk space, CPU, etc.). Nothing is shared with other users.
