What is a meta tag and what is it used for?

Meta tags and their uses

A meta tag is an element of HTML content that includes information about a web page. Meta tags (or meta tags) are not visible to Internet users, but they offer essential information to search engines.

There are 12 types of meta tags, including the title tag, meta description, and keywords. They provide access to information that helps search engines index and understand the content of your web pages. They also allow web browsers (Chrome, Edge, Safari, etc.) to view your pages correctly and load content faster.

All meta tags are useful in their ways, but some are much more important than others. The most important type of meta tag is the title tag. It informs users and search engines of the nature of a page. Ideally, the title should be unique and clearly describe the content.

Other metatags include page descriptions, which provide a short summary of the page’s content. We also count the keywords tell the search engines what your page deals with and allows to present it to be associated with relevant searches of Internet users.

Other metadata metatags provide information about the author, copyright and other details of your web page. While these tags are not as important as the title and description, they still provide valuable information to search engines and web browsers.
