A backup is a copy of all the files, databases and emails associated with your website. Having a backup of your website means that if you have a problem (for example if your files are corrupted by malware or hacking), you can easily restore your website.

Backups also allow you to bring your site back to a previous configuration if certain changes you made do not work as expected.
