Configuring IMAP mailbox in Outlook for Android

Setting up your cPanel email on the Outlook app for Android is quick and straightforward. This guide walks you through each step to successfully configure your IMAP mailbox so you can send and receive emails on the go.

Step 1: Add Your Email Account in Outlook

If You're Opening Outlook for the First Time

1. Open the Outlook app on your Android device.

2. Tap Add Account.

If You Already Have an Account Added

1. Open Outlook.

2. Tap the profile icon in the top-left corner.

3. Tap the Add (+) button.

4. Select Add an Account.

Step 2: Enter Your Email Address

1. Type your full email address (example: user@example.com).

2. Tap Continue

3. Outlook will now ask for the account type — select IMAP.

If You Do Not See the IMAP Option

Sometimes Outlook auto-detects the account type incorrectly and displays the Exchange setup screen instead.

If you see a screen that looks like an Exchange configuration:

1. Tap the question mark (?) next to Connect Exchange.

2. Select Change account provider.

3. Choose IMAP from the list of account types.

4. Proceed with the manual configuration of the mailbox.

Step 3: Enter Your IMAP Configuration Details

You can find your exact mail settings for the mailbox from: cPanel → Email → Email Accounts → Connect Devices.

Enter the following details:

Login Details

• Username: user@example.com
• Password: The password of your email account.

Incoming Mail Server (IMAP)

• Server: mail.example.com
• Port: 993
• Security: SSL/TLS (Outlook auto-detects this)

Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)

• Server: mail.example.com
• Port: 465
• Security: SSL/TLS

Note: Authentication is required for outgoing mail. Use the same username and password.

Step 4: Complete the Setup

1. After entering all details, tap Done in the top-right corner.

2. Outlook will verify the settings.

3. Once verified, your mailbox will start syncing.

Your Email Is Now Ready to Use

You can now send, receive, and manage your cPanel email account directly from the Outlook app on your Android device.
