How to add a domain to the Google Search Console?

Steps to add a domain to the Google Search Console

Step 1 – Register and collect Google Search Console code

If you do not yet have a Google Admin account, you will need to create one first. In this one, you must also allow in Google Search Console.

In the upper left corner, click Find a Property → Add a property.

You will have the choice between two types of properties that you can add. If you want to add only a specific URL, select the URL Prefix option. If you want to add the entire domain (including all subdomains and protocols), choose the Domain option.

Enter your domain and click Continue:

The most important item required in the pop-up is the verification code. Copy it and do not keep this tab open.

Step 2 – Domain TXT Record

Open a new tab in your web browser and go to the DNS area of your domain to create a TXT record. In it you will need the verification code given by Google Search Console:

DNS Record Type: TXT
Name: @
TXT value: paste the code you copied from the Google Search Console.
TTL: leave this field as is, with its default data.

Step 3 – Complete the operation

Wait a few minutes as the process may take some time. Then go back to the Google Search Console and click Check.

If you see a failure message, don’t worry. In the vast majority of cases, it’s only a matter of time and DNS propagation.

What does this mean: the registry you added simply didn’t have enough time to spread. To check the current propagation status, you can go to the [DNS Checker] (https://dnschecker.org/#TXT) and scan your domain.

As soon as you see that the whole card is covered with hooks (with the exception of one, which represents the maximum possible).

This means you can go back to Google Search Console and click Check again. The result should be like being positive.

Congratulations, you have successfully added your domain to the Google Search Console to improve its search engine SEO.
