How to Restore a Website Backup Using JetBackup5

If your website stops working correctly after an update or modification, you can roll back to a previous version by restoring the website backup using JetBackup 5 in cPanel.

Before starting the restoration, identify the approximate date and time the website last functioned correctly. In most cases, restoring the backup from earlier that day or the previous day is sufficient.

Important:

Before restoring, make sure you know:

  1. The website's document root (for example, public_html or an addon domain directory).
  2. The database associated with the website.

Step 1: Log in to cPanel

Log in to your cPanel account by visiting: https://yourdomain.com:2083
Use the cPanel username and password provided in your welcome email.
Alternatively, you can log in directly from your customer area by following the steps in this login guide.

Step 2: Access JetBackup5

You will be able to access JetBackup5 from the Files section in cPanel

Step 3: Restore the file backup

Once in JetBackup5, access the backup of the document root of your website

  1. Open Home Directory.

  1. Choose the backup date you want to restore.
  2. Click Modify File Selection.

  1. Choose the folder that corresponds to your website's document root. After selecting the correct folder, click Select Files.

  1. Once the Files are selected correctly, click on Restore.

  1. You will be redirected to the restore summary page, where you have to click on Restore the selected Items.

After confirming the restore, JetBackup redirects you to the Restore Queue, where you can monitor the progress of the restoration until it completes successfully.

Step 4: Restore the Website Database (If Required)

If your website uses a database (such as WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, Magento, or PrestaShop), you should also restore the matching database backup.

  1. Return to the JetBackup5 dashboard.
  2. Open Databases.

  1. Select the database associated with your website.

  1. Choose the backup date that matches the file backup you restored

  1. Once the date is selected click on Restore
  2. Confirm the restoration by clicking on the Restore the selected Items

You will again be redirected to the Restore Queue, where you can monitor the status of the database restoration until it is completed.

Step 5: Access the website
