# What is a site backup?

## Copies of website backups

A backup is a copy of all the files, [databases](https://help.ex2.com/en/article/what-is-a-database-1re36hx/?bust=1784817086124) and emails associated with your website. Having a backup of your website means that if you have a problem (for example if your files are corrupted by malware or hacking), you can easily restore your website. 

Backups also allow you to bring your site back to a previous configuration if certain changes you made do not work as expected.

Ex2 offers you daily automatic backups and keeps multiple copies of your site. You are sure to have a functional version of your site, even if you do not notice the problem from the first day.
