# How to optimize the database via phpMyAdmin in cPanel?

# Here are the steps to optimize the database via phpMyAdmin in cPanel:

1. [Log into your cPanel interface](https://help.ex2.com/en/article/how-to-log-in-to-my-cpanel-account-xyoqm0/?bust=1676305236426) "https://www.domainname.com:2083" or by going through your client area.

2. In the [Databases](https://help.ex2.com/en/article/what-is-a-database-1re36hx/?bust=1784817086124) section, click on the [phpMyAdmin](https://help.ex2.com/en/article/what-is-phpmyadmin-1p1660d/?bust=1784209189731) icon.

3. Under your [cPanel](https://help.ex2.com/en/article/what-is-cpanel-vq3toz/?bust=1784206091492) username, you can see a list of all databases. Select the appropriate database which you want to optimize.

4. Scroll down and mark Check All then click on the Drop-down option and select Optimize tables.
