# How to lock a domain name at Ex2?

By default, domain names are locked against transfers. This is a safeguard to avoid unauthorized transfers.

If you have unlocked one of your domains and want to lock it again, the process can be accomplished easily via your Ex2 client space.

## The steps for locking a domain name

To lock your domain, you must first [login to your account](https://help.ex2.com/fr/article/comment-me-connecter-a-mon-compte-ex2-14amrhr/?bust=1676032517299) in the Ex2 customer area.

From the menu to the left of the Customer Space interface, click **My Domains**.

You will then be redirected to a list of all your domains registered with Ex2. To the right of the domain you want to transfer, click the **...** to open the drop-down menu and select **Manage Domain**.

In the right sidebar of this new window you will see a menu called **Manage**. In it, click on the **Domain Protection** element.

You will then see a content box named **Lock Status**. To unlock your domain, set this status to **On** by checking the box. A window will then notify you of the successful lock.
