# How to get the Squarespace EPP transfer code?

The [authorization code](https://help.ex2.com/en/article/quest-ce-quun-code-epp-et-comment-lutiliser-1ogc320/?bust=1676466056332) prevents unauthorized third parties from acquiring your domain. You need it to approve (allow) the transfer of domain to a new provider.

# You can get the EPP code on Squarespace by following these steps:

*   Sign in to your Squarespace account.
*   Open the **Home** menu in Squarespace and navigate to the **Settings**. 
*   From the **Settings** menu, go to the **Domain Names** section.
*   Select the domain you want to transfer to access its options.
*   In this window, you can uncheck the option **Lock Domain**. This will make your domain accessible for transfer. 
*   Then click the **Get Authorization Code** button to request an EPP transfer code from Squarespace. 
*   You will receive an email in the next few minutes with your authorization code and a confirmation request.
*   To speed up the process and avoid blocking, you can confirm your transfer request. A link to this effect should be included in the message containing the transfer code.
