# How to create a Wordpress staging platform?

A WordPress staging environment is a copy of an online website. This WordPress feature allows you to make changes to a site without risking to crash it or alter the functionality of the online website.

A staging environment is a kind of sandbox. It allows you to test all the changes you plan to make to your WordPress site, without harming the site itself.

It is very easy to set up a staging platform on Ex2 hosting, using the WordPress Manager, available on cPanel.

# Here are the steps to create a Wordpress development platform (staging)

1. [Log in to your cPanel account](https://help.ex2.com/en/article/comment-me-connecter-a-mon-compte-cpanel-pqz10p/?bust=1676032517306) (via your customer account or https://www.bmoname.com:2083).

2. In the Software section, select the **Wordpress Manager** to access your [CMS](https://help.ex2.com/en/article/what-is-a-content-management-system-or-cms-1c48kdh/?bust=1784052067814) installations.

5. You will then be redirected to a new page, where you will have to enter different information. First, choose the folder and database to associate with your staging platform. Note that you must assign a different folder from the original version to not overwrite it.

6. You then need to define the parameters to apply to your platform. It is recommended to check the **Disable Search Engine Indexing** function.
